About

UCLA COSMOS Cluster 10 is a summer course on IoT + Data Science. The course combines hands-on sensing labs with data analysis, machine learning, wireless communication, localization, and embedded sensing topics.

Learning Outcomes

Students will practice:

  • collecting and documenting real-world sensor data;
  • using Python, NumPy, dictionaries, and tabular data workflows;
  • visualizing datasets and identifying bias or measurement artifacts;
  • training and evaluating regression and classification models;
  • explaining core IoT communication and sensing modalities, including WiFi, BLE, LoRa, RFID, UWB, and mmWave;
  • connecting wireless sensing measurements to data science models and project ideas.

Course Format

Most days include lecture from 9:00-11:30 AM and lab from 1:00-5:00 PM in BH7702A. The final week is reserved for open topics, group project work, and the closing poster session.
